Sirrako is built on the edge of a steep ravine and is an example of traditional architecture.
In an extraordinary way, the local craftsmen, expressing the social needs and aesthetic perceptions of the local community, harmonized the residence with the natural environment as well as the economic, social and cultural data of the place and the time.
The rhytomotic tissue is the most impressive thing one can see. It tames the hills providing the greatest comfort for the pedestrian and the passengers. The streets meander up the steep slope and the winding picturesque cobblestones climb, providing access to the houses in a natural and effortless way.
From the center of the settlement and the market, the roads start radially towards the four points of the horizon and their branches reach the boundaries of the settlement.
The main structural material of the buildings is hewn stone for the walls and slate for the roofs. The square, the center of the village, the “horostasi“, the neatest part of the village paved with slabs and a nice view is the core of the social, religious, cultural and economic entity of the settlement. The old arched porches, the elaborate arches, the winding stone-paved cobblestones, the traditional fountains inside and outside the settlement with the immortal mountain water, the well-preserved stone-built churches, the stone houses (with the austere and austere exterior, with the carved masonry and the roof slates, perfectly match the environment and the fact that each house has its own distinct personality as there are no two identical buildings in the settlement), create an image of variety, harmony and beauty. nature that surrounds the village compose a rare painting that enchants every visitor.
All of the above were the reason why Sirrako was designated in 1975 by the Ministry of Culture as a settlement of special natural beauty and special protection and in 1978 by the Ministry of Spatial Planning and Environment as a traditional settlement.
