Moments of special honor and joy for the historical noble village of Epirus on the occasion of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the poet “of the mountain and the pond”, Costas Krystallis, in the presence of the supreme state ruler, the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos.
The events that took place in Sirrakos on 21/07/2018 in front of the PtD included a Doxology at the Holy Church of Agios Nikolaos, a memorial service and laying a wreath on the statue of the poet. Afterwards, a day dedicated to Costas Krystallis followed at the Conference Center of the same name, with speeches and recitations of his poems by prominent poets, writers and people of art and literature.
The intimate room was decorated with the photo exhibition of Mr. Vangelis Yiotopoulos, on the subject of the movement of the livestock farmers of Syracuse in the winter.
After the end of the conference, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos unveiled the bust of the poet, crafted by the sculptor, professor emeritus of the School of Fine Arts, Mr. Theodoros Papagiannis, which was placed outside the “Kostas Crystal” Conference Center.
Finally, an official meal was served in the central square of Syracuse, which was accompanied by a short traditional music and dance program by the dance sections of the Associations of Syracuse.
